First off, I don't think New China Kitchen #1 exists. This place is yet another sad, carbon-copy of the seemingly large number of Americanized sub-par Chinese restaurants in Colorado Springs. With all the Chinese places in town, you'd think there would be one or two that could noticeably set themselves apart from the crowd, and deliver good, honest Chinese food that one finds abundantly on the West Coast, but alas, that is not the case in our fair city. (If we had a decent Asian minority population, then things would be different.) The place is pretty average, but clean and comfortable. I thought the service was very good, and the owner who waited on me was extremely polite. The menu is exactly what you'd think and expect - no house specialties here, and the entrees are all pretty boring, and as I have said in other Chinese reviews, I can cook this stuff at home so much better, and with more authentic and interesting ingredients, and a much better stir fry sauce. The price was right and the quantity was impressive, if those things are important to you.

I love this place. I live nearby and every time I've come they are always friendly and courteous. Prices are reasonable and the portions are good - I've never had a bad meal from here. I can order my meal and still have leftovers for 2 more times. I usually get take-out and from the time you order you usually only have to wait about 10 minutes at the most before the meal comes out. For the people who complain about delivery time, get your lazy butts off the couch and pick it up yourself and stop the complaining about the time, portions and price.

Thank God I found this place. Extremely good prices, friendly staff, and they deliver? The only question will be how many times a month I order from this place. Oh and did I mention fast delivery? As for the food, it is extremely good. The wonton soup and General Tao's Chicken are pretty delicious. If you have the time, go in for a lunch special during the week. It will fill you up for under 10 bucks.

This place has a terrible description on what you get as far as menu items included in a meal. The adult portions are enough to feed a small child. This place gave a delivery take out time of 1 hour for residents who live a few blocks away talk about absurd... rip off. Dont waste your money for what you get here. RIP OFFS.

Good chinese delivery place that'll deliver all the way to Powers. Good Sha Cha Beef, Chicken Cashews, Creamcheese Wontons, etc. Delivery takes about 45 minutes though.

My wife and I went to this restaurant this evening. Normally the food and service was very good. We ordered our food and my wife's came first. I was told my food would be right out. The food took about 5 minutes Montessori be delivered. I had teriyaki chicken. It was drenched in sauce. I had one skewer. I told the waiter I did not like it. He asked if I ever ate this before. I said I had. He then walked off. He came back and the food that I ordered was still on the ticket. He said I could have something else on the menu. I did not want it. He said that the restaurant would lose the food if I did not pay for it. We decided that this was bad and decided to leave. The manager said I could have anything on the menu. Again, I told her th as t I did not want it. we told her I only ate one skewer. She asked if that was all we ate. We said yes. She said the restaurant would lose the food if we did not pay. The she asked if we could pay for the one skewer. We said we would. This begs the question that if we only paid for one skewer, what happened to the rest? I got the impression that this food would resold.

You can't go wrong with this place. The food is consistent and delicious. Without a doubt the best Chinese place I've had in town. We've tried a variety of dishes from their menu, and have never been disappointed. The manager is always super friendly, and service is quick and efficient.

Very good Chinese food. Our regular place was closed on Mother's Day, so we gave this place a shot. The food was delicious and portions were good. I think we'll stick with our usual spot, but this is definitely a good back up.

5/26/2014 We just ate this. The food was horrible! What a waste of money! Delivery time was good and that was the only good thing. The food was bad. Plain fried rice was as plain as it gets. Last I checked fried rice had veggies and egg in it. The Hot & Sour soup didn't taste right, had a weird flavor. Kung Pao Chicken was watery. I mean it had a ton of liquid in it was bland and not spicy. Mu-Shu pork was very watery and bland. The Duck sauce for my Mu-Shu pork was even watery! That should be a thick paste! I will NEVER order from them again! It was that bad!!!!!!!! :(

They're close to work and I stop here when my coworkers make me. Prices are good, $6.75 for an entree. Soups large and the hot and sour has lots of vegetables, my generals chicken was 90% breading and 10% meat, occasional bone. It's an okay lunch. Never been sick after so I can't speak to that, but all my experiences have been dine in.

It's good Chinese food. I have tried a few places around the Springs and I haven't been able to find one that was good and didn't give me a migraine due to MSG. This place has good food and doesn't give me a headache. I've always had it delivered and it's hot and doesn't take long to get to my house.

I ordered delivery online. Delivery was suspiciously fast but the driver was friendly and courteous. Because the food had been delivered so quickly I was a bit concerned, but was surprised to see fairly decent food. I knew for the price so wouldn't be receiving anything super fancy or outstanding, but the food hit the marks for American Chinese food. The crab wontons were good; I could actually taste the crab in them. The fried dumplings had a nice texture to them and the filling was well seasoned. The sesame chicken was passable, the chicken was definitely overdone but it wasn't inedible. The "medium" spice level was enough to let me know it was there without being hot. The sauce was a bit runny, but overall it tasted good for super fast inexpensive Chinese. Again, I will mention that the delivery was incredibly fast which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 3.

We have lived in Colorado Springs for 11 years and this is the best Chinese food we've had here. Love that they deliver to our home and make it easy to order. I thought I found a way to order online but it wasn't working-either way, placing the order over the phone was seamless.

I called at 8:30pm on a Sunday which is 30min before they close and they didnt answer the phone. either they closed early or didn't want to work those last 30min either way it's unprofessional to lie or not cooperate to what the website says. I have ordered from here before the food is decent the service is usually good nothing special

I went to this restaurant because I lived nearby and had not eaten there yet. There was plenty of parking and the tables are a tablecloth and a Chinese style paper place mat with a glass top overall to keep them nice.I received my menu promptly. Although this place bills themselves as having the "most delectable and authentic specialties of the Mandarin, Hunan, Szechuan & Thai cuisine" , I found that most items on th emulti-page menu were the same tired American versions of "Chinese" food - General Tso's Chicken, Lemon Chicken, Beef with Broccoli, etc. I wanted something simple so I ordered the Vegetable Egg Foo Young which was a little under $10.00. When my food came (with steamed rice), it was a very generous serving. There were actually two large Egg Foo Young slices on the plate about 1/2" high each. It had a variety of vegetables inside including crisp bean sprouts - and zucchini. However, the brown sauce on the Egg Foo Young ruined the dish. Instead of an Oyster Sauce base or thickened broth with soy sauce and vinegar, it was brown and incredibly sweet. There was no way to scrape it off and the taste of sugar was overwhelming. It took a few hours after I left for that taste to get out of my mouth. After tasting how they prepared the brown sauce, I would shudder to think about the amount of sugar they would put in lemon chicken or sweet & sour pork.

Have had the take out several times and LOVE their food!! Tonight we wanted Chinese and had never dined in so we decided to try it. We walked in and One of the employees, Joe, asked from across the restaurant, dining in or placing an order to go? We said dining in. From across the room again he said just grab a seat. So we did. When he walked over to the table he was EXTREMELY short with us. I asked his name and didn't understand the first time he said it, so I asked again....still didn't hear him, all while he was walking away. There were 4 other tables, all with their food, so I couldn't understand what was going on. The vibe was HORRIBLY RUDE!!!!! I have been a server and know that this was not what I wanted to experience for dinner. We got up and left immediately. I think if I ever consider this place again, most likely it will be delivery....but then again...probably not. At least one star for all my previous delivery orders. Not worth waiting around to see if it was going to get better.

Driving on Barnes today I passed this place on my way to the Post Office and decided to stop for lunch on my way back. I grew up and attended school in San Francisco, so I know a little something about good, authentic Chinese food. New China Kitchen doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you step inside, you immediately realize it's a very nice place to eat. The decor is clean, tastefully bright, and spacious...immaculate, in fact. I was greeted with big smiles and allowed to choose my own seat...always a plus in my book! As soon as I realized every employee in the joint is Asian, I was optimistic about the food, and they didn't disappoint me. I ordered eggrolls and a large hot-and-sour soup while enjoying an ice-cold beer. My food was ready and served 16 minutes after I ordered it, and it came to the table hot-hot-hot, just the way I like it! The eggrolls were offered with both sweet-and-sour and hot mustard sauce, which was also very nice, and were perfectly cooked with enough filling to actually taste the meat inside along with the veggies. Not a drop of oil dripped off them; they were perfectly deep-fried. Hot-and-sour soup is the only way I'll eat tofu, and I'm very picky about the tofu used...New China Kitchen does it right, whatever tofu they are using in their soup. Buttery and soft without being mushy in a bad way, and no real taste of its own. :-) I like it because I don't even notice it's there! The base broth they used is rich and flavorful, with plenty of veggies and meat in it to let you know it's really soup, and just spicy enough to warm you up and keep you warm on a cold Colorado Springs day. I don't think my bowl was made-to-order, but the batch it came out of was quite good. Best hot-and-sour soup I've had here in Colorado. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the prices were very reasonable...$7.65 for my food and $3.75 for my beer. I do believe I've found my new go-to Chinese place in town. Oh, and they do free delivery...how could it possibly get any better???

This was awful. We ordered in, and the food was nearly inedible. The chicken lo mein was impossibly greasy and only flavored with salt. The shrimp with vegetables had a strong fishy/bad smell and I found several that were not de-veined. I did not eat it for fear of getting sick. The teriyaki chicken skewers were swimming in a watery sauce and not at all appetizing. The chicken with broccoli was the only half-way edible part of the order, but the sauce was white instead of brown so it was also disappointing. Overall a total waste of $50.

Pretty good food. Nothing fancy but for the price, we love it. It is our go to place for Chinese food.

I'm viisiting from out of state and my family took me to this Chinese restaurant for lunch. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was not only delicious, but was generous portions and came with soup, egg roll and rice. Lunch menu ranges from $5.75 to $6.95 for some shrimp dishes. We each had different entrees and everyone was happy with their meal and most of us took food home. Dinner entrees offer an even larger selection and range in price from $8.25 - $11.75 (shrimp) - typical price $8.95-$9.95. I plan to return for at least one more meal before I go back to California!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
